DAVID HUGHES – Executive Director
David Hughes became Executive Director for COA in June of 2024. He is Vice President of the Intellectual Property Constituency (IPC) and sits on the Executive Committee for the Commercial Stakeholders Group (CSG) at the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). Previously, David headed technology for almost 15 years at the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) where, as Chief Technology Officer, he participated regularly in ICANN, the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), and the Internet Governance Forum (IGF). He began his career at Sony Corporation in Tokyo before moving to Sony Music Entertainment in New York where he established and ran the music industry’s first online distribution department.
